Amelia Sharpe produced another brilliant performance to win bronze at the British National Youth and Junior Track Championships in Newport.

Following her excellent sixth place in the European Youth Olympics in Hungary, the Team RL360 rider was straight back in action in Wales on Tuesday evening.

The talented Manx girl broke away with sisters Zoe Backstedt (Maindy Flyers) and Elynor Backstedt (Team Backstedt Hotchillee) in the points race.

Working together, the three frontrunners gained a lap on the rest of the field to secure the podium placings.

At the finish, Zoe pipped Elynor in the sprint for gold with Amelia close behind in the bronze medal position.

This is a stunning result from Amelia considering that she has hardly had any track time this season because of her road racing and school exam commitments.

She now focuses on the final round of British Cycling’s National Circuit Race Series in Scarborough on August 13 where she stands a good chance of sealing the overall victory. DOT TILBURY
