During lockdown, Jaks Bar & Smokehouse, A&J Butchers and Barbary Coast supported Impact Kickboxing by supplying local children with new equipment such as punch bags and safety items.

Impact Kickboxing is the largest kickboxing, martial arts and Jiujitsu club in the island. Students were able to continue training outdoors during lockdown (in line with restrictions) and then indoors as per government guidelines.

While the gym was effectively closed for approximately three months, the club managed to secure sponsorship from the island’s largest steakhouse, in hand with Barbary Coast and A&J Butchers to help keep it going and support the children with the best equipment.

An impact lockdown competition was hosted for children and adults as Covid restrictions meant they were unable to travel to the world championships.

Kieran Pressley took gold, becoming IoM Impact Lockdown Champion, and Scott Macduffie took first position in the adult division.

Club coach David Pearson commented: ’Impact is absolutely thriving post-lockdown thanks to the sponsorship deal the club received from the above businesses. We can now invest more into the club and constantly develop our students.’
