Isle of Man snowboard cross star Brandon Cain has been selected by Team GB to attend the first World Cup event of the season in Italy this week.
The 22-year-old former QEII High School student attended a World Cup training camp recently and has been selected to compete for his first races of the campaign, with the season having been delayed until now.
Brandon suffered an injury in November to his shoulder which put him out for six weeks, but he has stayed fit and enjoyed some slope time from late December. He has been in a team bubble since October 1 which only trains and travels together.
There are European Cup events scheduled later this month and into February which he will hopefully also compete in.
He is thankful for sponsorship from PokerStars and support from Isle of Man Sport Aid and their physio for advice while injured, as well as many local businesses that have supported him during this difficult season.
This week’s World Cup event takes place at Chiesa in Val Malenco, Italy. Team GB have strict Covid protocols in place which means he has to have a PCR test before arrival.
