The Callin Wild Manx Fell League continues this Saturday afternoon with the shortest race of the series.
Originally the event was scheduled to take place on Friday evening, but road closures for the car rally in the Baldwin area put a stop to that.
The start time is 4pm with registration from 3pm at Colden plantation car park. The Carraghan is held over a tough out-and-back 4km course that includes 300 metres of difficult ascent.
Incorporated in the race will be the second round of the junior league for runners aged from 12 to 18 years. There are five races in the league, which commenced at St John’s on New Year’s Day with runners having to finish three to qualify. All juniors who complete the league will receive a hoodie.
As the race is categorised as short, rules regarding safety gear are relaxed, but if the weather is poor it will be compulsory for runners to carry a jacket and a whistle. All junior runners will be provided with a whistle at registration.
Car sharing is recommended as limited parking is available. There is some space at the Colden car park, at the side of the road by the reservoir and the bottom of the Governor Loch road. Please do not park at the start and finish area as this will be required for the race officials.
As the race route goes over private land which may have sheep and lambs on, no dogs will be permitted on any part of the course.
Marshals are required to cover a number of positions on the course and at the finish. Please get in touch with any committee member as soon as possible if you can assist.
