Colby Football Club will begin life back in the Canada Life Premier League with a change of management.

Josh McFee recently departed the Station Fields club after leading the Moonlighters to a 62-point Division Two title win and promotion in 2025-26 - Colby’s first second-tier title since 2007-08.

But McFee’s decision to move on this summer has led to a new - and old - manager taking the reins in the first division.

Kevin Murray, who managed Colby the last time they were in the Premier League, has returned to manage the southern club for the 2026-27 campaign.

A spokesperson from Colby AFC commented: ‘As well as playing for the club for many years, Kev also managed the first team when they were last in Division One, so he will know what to expect when competing in the top division.

‘We all welcome him back and wish him all the best for the upcoming season.’

Due to the recent change in management, Colby have also announced that the Southern John Atkinson Cup has been delayed by one week.

The tournament sees the first team and combi sides of Colby, Rushen, Malew and Castletown go head to head, which will now get underway this Saturday (August 8) at Station Fields.

The second round of fixtures next Tuesday (Aug 11) are also at Station Fields, before switching to Clagh Vane the following day and culminating at Castletown Stadium on Saturday, August 15.

The Colby spokesperson added: ‘Due to our recent change in team management, it has been agreed to delay the start of the John Atkinson Cup by a week to give us chance to regroup.

‘The club would like to place on record its gratitude to Malew, Castletown and Rushen for all of their support and allowing us the extra time to prepare.’
