With 16 Manx Two Day Trial wins between them, Steve Colley and Josh Brain were among the entry for the festive pairs trial on Sunday.

Hosted by Isle of Man Youth Trials Club, it took place at Glen Lough, Glen Vine in dry conditions, albeit muddy underfoot in places

Winners of the Knight Trophy for the best parent and child combination, featuring a rider on each course (hard and easy), the ’child’ must also be currently competing as a youth.

It was the Moyers - father Mark riding the easy route and son Bobby on the hard route - that pipped the Peters’ pairing of Kieran and Corey, with Kieran also riding the easy route and Corey on the harder sections.

Both pairs finished with a solitary dab, but the Moyer pair got the decision by way of a furthest clean countback.

Team Barker - father Mark and son Liam - took the more traditional roles with the senior member on the hard route and son on the easier one. They were third overall, losing seven marks - all attributed to Mark.

In the casual pairs, with a rider on each course, the pairings of Josh Brain/Rhett Iveagh and Steve Colley/Ruby McCubbin couldn’t be separated, all staying clean (on marks) throughout the entire event.

Steve and Ruby broke a leg apiece within three days of each other during the summer. An honorary president of IoM Youth Trials Club, former leading professional Steve had been very supportive and encouraging of Ruby since her accident and this was her first trial back since.

Brothers Maxx and Travis Bradshaw took third spot with a combined loss of six marks.
