The second of Hannan Law Crosby’s big assignments against the Premiership’s traditional top two takes place on Saturday when they face Baker Tilly Cronkbourne.

The Marown side will need to do better than last week when they were despatched with ease by Shimmin Wilson Peel and St John’s.

Skipper Richard Tarr will hope to have company when the team is batting, but the Kniveton brothers have been in good form this season and Chris Langford is due a big score.

Although it is possible to break up Cronkbourne’s higher order, they do have strength in depth in their batting. This combined with a consistent bowling attack should bring Cronkbourne the win.

Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill welcome Valkyres to their Ballafletcher home for the second time this week.

Finch Hill may be able to call upon a strong line up of Burrows and Beards and their normal coterie of good young players. Valkyres showed against Ramsey that they can bat further down the order and that their fielders can catch a ball. Valkyres may be on a good run but Finch Hill may bring it to an end.

Shimmin Wilson Peel and St John’s, or the Ollie Webster show as it was last weekend, take on CTH Insurance Ramsey atMullen-e-Cloie. Webster’s colleagues will hope to steal some of the limelight from him this time around.

Ramsey have some good batsmen who can bat well, but too often they approach the game with a ’see the ball, let’s hit it as hard and as far as we can’, when sometimes it may be wiser to build an innings.

Their bowlers started well against Valkyres, but they seemed to lose concentration quite quickly and it allowed Valkyres back in to the game.

If they can tighten up their bowling, a victory cannot be far away. Unfortunately for Ramsey, I am not sure that it will be this weekend.

Sunday’s Callin Wilson Development XI game is against Newfield Castletown.

Town will play without the Williams clan and this may weaken them. Dan Laughlin has been batting down the order and he always seems to get decent scores.

The Development team generally play well but the superior strength of the older players swamps the eager youngsters. They have, however, won two of their four games, so Castletown should not rest on their laurels.

l Finch Hill’s George Burrows has been selected to play in the prestigious Green King IPA T20 Pro:Am tournament at the 3aaa County Ground in Derby on Sunday, July 29.

This is the leading T20 franchise tournament for club cricketers in the UK. George’s team will be captained by former quick bowler Simon Jones, who was a part of the famous England 2005 Ashes team and they will be coached by Northants professional Stephen Crook.

He will attend a couple of training camps in Derby next month prior to the big event as the players are given the opportunity to train and play as the pros do. Good luck George.
