The International Cricket Council has awarded £50,000 to Isle of Man Cricket Association.
This is in addition to the £25k spent in 2017 on pitch and practice improvements.
The growth in the number of players in recent years, especially younger players, is now reflected in the Isle of Man’s ranking within the ICC.
This growth has brought increased income, and the IoMCA continues to invest back into the island’s clubs.
This latest ICC funding in partnership with Durant Cricket will see the installation of equipment by Durant of boundary ropes, electronic scoreboards and sightscreens, among other items such as stumps and markers. A total of seven sites will be visited around the island.
None of the above could take place without the hard work and commitment of the clubs. These items were requested by the clubs to raise standards in the game and enhance the match-day experience for players.
There is also a comprehensive schools’ programme in place, where all 33 primary schools have been offered the opportunity of free coaching to get more children playing cricket. The aim is for 5,000 children to benefit from this coaching.
