The Isle of Man’s men’s cricket side have won two of the three matches they have played so far at this week’s ICC Europe World Cup Qualifiers in Finland.

The Manx opened their campaign on Friday afternoon with an impressive eight-wicket win over Luxembourg before losing to Spain the next day.

The islanders bounced back to winning ways on Monday with another big victory, this time over Bulgaria.

This leaves them placed third in the group ahead of Thursday afternoon's showdown with the hosts, the victor of which will advance into the third-place play-off against either Germany or Portugal.

The Manx started their campaign at the regional sub-qualifier by winning the toss against a Luxembourg side ranked 18 places below them in the world T20 rankings.

Luxembourg will bowled out for 116 as the island bowlers started strongly, Matt Ansell and man of the match Corbin Liebenberg coming away with four-wicket hauls.

A 50 from opener Adam McAuley and 31 not out from skipper Dollin Jansen saw the Manx reach their target inside the 17th over.

Spain proved a sterner test on Saturday as they restricted the Manx to 108/8 from their 20 overs. Crosby’s Carl Hartmann top scoring with 27.

In reply Spain reached their target with 39 balls remaining having only lost three wickets.

After a rest day, the islanders returned to action with a convincing 89-run victory over Bulgaria on Monday.

Batting first, the island finished on 177/7, with Jansen chipping in with nearly half of them as he hit 86 from 58 balls.

Bulgaria could only muster 88 from their 20 overs, with Ansell again among the wickets, bagging another four.
