It’s a quiet weekend for cricket because the TT means access to certain grounds is restricted.

Shimmin Wilson Peel and St John’s (PSJ) have moved their fixture on Saturday against Newfield Castletown to King William’s College with an 11am start.

PSJ had a decisive win against Valkyres last weekend before the rain closed in, winning by nine wickets.

Captain Ollie Webster is putting in some fine performances and if they can keep Akkie Van Den Berg in the ranks, they should do well.

The latter scored his first 100 on Saturday.

It appeared that he had never been away despite suffering from injury for the past season and a half.

Alex Williamson took his first catch of the season despite being barracked by his own team, but he may be missing if he is able to travel to watch Liverpool.

Although PSJ may be missing a few players, they can still put together a strong side.

Newfield Castletown will hope to have a strong lineup to face PSJ.

Richard Jackson has been bowling well and he took four for 24 versus Cronkbourne on Saturday.

Nathan Williams has taken several notable wickets already this season and Garreth Roome looks to be regaining some confidence with his bowling.

Town, however, look to be fragile in the batting department.

Tom Kennaugh has made a few good scores, but they have collapsed a couple of times.

Baker Tilly Cronkbourne welcome Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill to Tromode at 11am on Saturday.

Cronkbourne haven’t been able to field their strongest team every weekend but they still have strength in depth with some good young players coming through.

Josh Clough looks to be a stylish young batsman, Theo Helfrich has been taking wickets and Corbin Liebenberg seems to be the chap who answers the call with bat or ball.

Sam Mills may be back in the team this weekend, which may further strengthen them.

Ramsey Crookall Finch Hill have some excellent players in their ranks.

If George Burrows and Eddie Beard have a successful start to the innings, then any team will struggle against them.

George has nearly 500 runs already this summer and is averaging 63.71.

Sam Barnett had a good couple of innings with the bat, and I am sure that he will be back with a big score.

Finch Hill’s performances with the ball can be hit and miss but Spencer Clarke took his first ’fifer’ against Cronkbourne the other Monday with five wickets for nine runs, so this should boost his confidence.

However, I think Cronkbourne may be too strong this time around.
