Cal Crutchlow claimed a dramatic victory in the Argentinian MotoGP on Sunday.

The Ramsey resident held his nerve to clinch victory ahead of Johann Zarco at the end of a thrilling and often controversial race in South America.

Sunday’s GP provided plenty of talking points even before the race got underway in earnest, with Jack Miller on pole enjoying a four-row headstart on the rest of the field thanks to his choice of tyres which meant everyone else received grid penalties. Then reigning champion Marc Marquez received a ride through penalty which meant he started from 19th on the grid, forcing him to ride aggressively throughout. The Spaniard upset a few riders on his way to claiming fifth, but none more so than Valentino Rossi who he sent tumbling to the track after a coming together. At the head of the field, Crutchlow held off a late challenge from Zarco to claim the chequered flag.

As a result of his third career MotoGP victory to date, Crutchlow now leads the championship, the first Briton to do so since the great Barry Sheene in 1979.
