Jessica Collister and her eight-year-old gelding Lincoln (show name ’It’s the President’) have been celebrating success at two National UK equestrian events.

The pair won the 90cm class at the recent Frenchfield Horse Trials in Cumbria and last weekend took victory in the 80cm class at the Kelsall Hill Horse Trials in Cheshire.

Both events were part of the British Eventing season.

At Kelsall Hill, Jessica recorded a personal best in the dressage phase with a score of 21.3.

In both the showjumping and cross-country phases, she and Lincoln were clear inside the time. This meant they finished on the dressage score, seven points ahead of second place.

The events were Jessica’s first British Eventing wins.

It has been a successful season for the pairing as Lincoln also won champion light horse and fourth reserve supreme at this year’s Royal Manx Agricultural Show.

They also qualified for and competed at the British Riding Club National Horse Trials Championships in Oxfordshire during the summer.

Jessica bought Lincoln five years ago as an unbroken three-year-old. He came from Ireland after she spotted him on the internet and she has had a challenging journey in getting him to competition level.

Commenting yesterday, she said: ’The hard work is paying off and I am delighted at our achievements this year. I’d like to thank Isle of Man Steam Packet who support our off-island travel and everyone else who has helped so that I can compete in event
