Nathan Draper (Zappi Race Team) was crowned Isle of Man road race champion for the third time on Sunday morning.

Organised by Manx Viking Wheelers, the A race was held over four laps of the demanding Tour of the West course.

Draper was part of a five-strong breakaway that contested the win, with brother Will (Team Manx Telecom) performing strongly onthe final climb of Creg Willy’s to bridge the gap to the leading quartet.

He squeezed home runner-up ahead of MotoGP star Cal Crutchlow (Ellan Vannin), with Christian Varley (MVW) and Jamie Fletcher (EV) completing the top-five.

The veteran title went to Vannin’s Andrew Roche in sixth spot.

The B race, over three laps, was won by Peter Harrison (Team MT) soloing away from breakaway compatriots Ralf Holden and Zac Walker (both RL360 Isle of Man) to take victory, with Walker receiving the youth title.

The women’s race came down to a sprint finish where Jessie Carridge (MVW) secured the title by a close margin from Ellen Barker.
