Kaytlyn Adshead and Summer Peters produced impressive rides at the final rounds of the ACU Women’s and Girls’ British Trials Championship.

The events took place at the neighbouring venues of Burycliff Quarry and Dudwood Farm in Derbyshire over the weekend.

Interestingly, they were promoted by locals (to the Isle of Man) Ian Murphy and Michael Owen under their M&M Promotions banner.

Leading the way for the Manx girls was Kaytlyn Adshead who finished the season as runner-up to multiple former world champion Emma Bristow in the premier women’s championship class.

A brace of second places for the Glen Maye teenager backed up her equally strong performances on the world stage. Alice Minta, who had been lying second going into the final weekend, crashed out on Saturday, injuring a knee.

Summer Peters produced an imperious performance to win Girls’ B class, halving her nearest rivals’ marks both days.

The youngest rider in her class, she won four out of the five rounds and will be a force to reckon with in the Girls A Intermediate upon eligibility to ride up a class next year.

Ruby McCubbin was second on Saturday and third on Sunday with solid rides, having made a comeback from a broken leg last year. She was runner-up in the series.

The three Manx riders in Girls D class were equally competitive. Alice Chestnut-Cubbon finished the season with a fifth and a third, leaving her runner-up in the championship and first of the small wheel bikes behind Derbyshire’s Daisy Craig riding a Beta 80.

Clodagh Higgins was on the podium both days taking third and second place results and the final podium position in the end-of-year standings.Isla Kennington showed size doesn’t matter with a pair of sixth places and sixth overall in the championship.

Gemma Kerruish rode the non-championship girls’ class, recording a couple of well-deserved victories to complete her season.
