Andrew Farrell was at the head of a Irish clean-sweep in Wednesday afternoon’s Lightweight Manx Grand Prix.

The Skerries man finished runner-up last year, but went one better on his Kawasaki ER-6 in the race that was shortened to three laps after delays in the morning.

Farrell came home 15.271 seconds ahead of Wednesday morning’s Junior MGP victory James Chawke after leading from start to finish.

Chawke was more than a minute ahead of Farrell’s fellow Skerries man David Lumsden on the Martin Bullock Motorsport Kawasaki ER-6.

Forty seconds behind Lumsden in fourth was another Irishman, Dave Butler, who managed a top-five finish despite being hit with a 30-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.

Gareth Evans and Chris Moore completed the top six.

A delighted Farrell said: ’The bike never missed a beat. This win is for my team - I didn’t win that we did.’

Farrel also dedicated the victory to all those riders who have lost their lives in the last couple of years and added: ’This has been a long time coming. I’m finally able to tick this box.’
