The draw has been made for this year’s ConIFA World Football Cup, which is due to take place in London between May 31 and June 10.

The Ellan Vannin football team have been drawn in Group One where they will face hosts Barawa, Tamil Eelam and Cascadia.

Group Two features Abkhazia, Northern Cyprus, Felvidek and Tibet, while Group Three consists of Padania, Szekely Land, Kiribati and Matabeleland and Group Four contains Panjab, United Koreans, Western Armenia and Kabylia.

As part of their preparations for the tournament, Ellan Vannin will play against a Yorkshire IFA representative team later this month.

The Manx International Football Alliance side, managed to Chris Bass Sr, are due to take on their Yorkshire counterparts at Hemsworth MWCFC NuBuilds Stadium on Sunday, January 28 in a friendly which kicks off at 3.30pm.

Earlier this week, Bass Sr named his squad which will take on Yorkshire in just over two weeks’ time.

St George’s will be well represented in Yorkshire with no fewer than seven players from Glencrutchery Road being included in the 15-strong squad.

They are Sam Caine, Sean Quaye, Joey Quayle, Jack McVey, Furo Davies, Ciaran McNulty and Frank Jones who will captain the side.

A trio of Rushen United players have also been called up, namely goalkeeper Dean Kearns, Adam Cregeen and Mike Williams.

Peel duo Tom Wood and Daniel Bell are in the selection, but in-form winger Lee Gale is unable to travel with the squad.

The western presence continues with the inclusion of two from St John’s who have been one of the standout teams so far this season, striker Rhys Oates and winger Alex Holden getting the nod.

Premier League leaders Corinthians have only one player in the squad, that being in-form Sean Doyle who will be hoping to replicate his club form with Ellan Vannin.
