Two of the teams expected to battle against relegation this season go head-to-head in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

A victory for newly-promoted Braddan at home to Colby could see the Swans reach the dizzy heights of the top four in the fledgling standings having already defeated Douglas Royal and Ramsey in recent weeks.

The Victoria Road side will not have it all their own way on Saturday though, as Colby go into the game on the back of a thumping 7-1 win over Ramsey last time out.

Stealing the headlines in that game was Daniel Lane who bagged four goals and the southerners will be hoping he can fire them to three points again. A win for either side would provide a significant boost in their quest to stave off relegation.

An interesting clash is expected to unfold at the Bowl where St Mary’s host DHSOB. The Saints lost 3-1 to St George’s on Saturday but put up a brave fight and will fancy their chances of edging this battle with Old Boys.

However, the latter claimed their first win of the season last weekend with a 1-0 success over Douglas Athletic and, with former St Mary’s man Darren Hudgeon back in their ranks, they will be hoping the powerful striker can return to haunt his old club.

Another team expected to be in the relegation mix are Douglas Royal who face a tough match at home to Peel, with the westerners hoping to cement their place in the top three as they seek to close the gap on St George’s and Corinthians.

The latter side make the journey north to take on Ramsey at Ballacloan Stadium aiming to preserve their 100 per cent winning start to the new season and keep Geordies within their sights.

The defending champions travel up the east coast to Glen Road where they take on Laxey. Geordies will be favourites to win but, by their own admission, they were below par against St Mary’s last Saturday so they will eager to put in an improved showing against the Miners.

The final game in the top flight sees Douglas Athletic host St John’s at Springfield Road, with both sides looking for their first win of the season.
