Braddan came from behind to clinch the GH Corlett Woods Cup against Castletown in Easter Saturday’s final at the Bowl.

Having beaten the Mets 11-1 in their previous meeting this season, Braddan were favourites to lift the trophy for only the second time in the club’s history.

However, the Swans were forced to do it the hard way as they found themselves trailing to a Jamie Cadwallader strike midway through the first half.

The game was turned on its head in a minute when Town missed the chance to go two ahead and Braddan went up the other end and grabbed an equaliser thanks to Lee Currer’s powerful header.

It remained that way until 15 minutes into the second half when the Victoria Road side edged their noses in front for the first time.

And it was a landmark goal as well, Silver Boot-elect Andy Glover breaking his own club record with a fine left-footed strike on the hour mark.

Town very nearly claimed a quickfire equaliser of their own but the lively Alex Crawley saw his dipping half-volley tipped over the bar.

Any hopes of a Castletown comeback were quashed soon afterwards when Will Smith’s Braddan charges doubled their lead to put the game seemingly beyond doubt.

After Paul Camarda had denied an angled effort, the veteran goalkeeper was powerless to prevent Stuart Pacey lashing the rebound high into the net for 3-1.

Castletown refused to give up and went close late on through centre-back Richard Foden, but Braddan were able to see out the remainder of the game and clinch their second ever GH Corlett Woods Cup.
