Buchan won the Isle of Man Football Association Millennium Primary Schools Tournament at the weekend.

The southern side narrowly beat Ballacottier 2-1 in a closely-contested final at Union Mills’ Garey Mooar ground on Saturday afternoon.

This year’s tournament saw 32 teams entered from different primary schools across the island. Buchan have effectively retained the trophy having previously also won the last Millennium competition run two years ago in 2019.

Having finished top of their group after the morning group stages, Buchan beat Ashley Hill 2-1 after extra-time in their quarter-final and also then beat Manor Park by the same scoreline in a close semi-final en route to lifting the trophy.

The small schools competition winners were Manor Park Primary School who hadn’t conceded a goal until they met Buchan in the semi-final.

Manor Park’s Brandon Bellew picked up the player of the tournament award having driven his team to the latter stages of the competition with goals and assists throughout the day.

Isle of Man Football Association’s development team would like to thank Union Mills FC for hosting the tournament as well as the referees and volunteer helpers on the day.
