The fixture list has thrown up a couple of potentially huge matches in JCK Division Two this Saturday.
League leaders Castletown face a stern test of their title and promotion credentials when they host the side tipped by many at the start of the season to runaway with the league, RYCOB.
Town currently sit three points clear of Pulrose United having played a game more, while Youthie are just outside the top four at the moment. For a long time the northerners looked like they would romp to the title but it’s been a tricky couple of months for the Scoill ree Gorree outfit with several defeats diminishing their hopes of winning the title.
A victory at The Stadium this weekend would open up the title race again, but the hosts will start as favourites.
There’s also a pivotal clash taking place at Springfield Road where second-placed Pulrose hosts the side one place and one point behind them, Onchan.
Pully edged the reverse fixture by the odd goal in three at the Nivison Stadium and will probably start this weekend’s match as marginal favourites thanks to their slightly superior form. Like last season, Onchan have been one of the standout teams but came undone last week with defeats to Marown and Foxdale, therefore they will be desperate to get back to winning ways.
With one or both of those teams dropping points, in-form Marown will be expecting to move up the table as they host Douglas and District in Crosby. With two wins out of their last three games though, D&D will be up for this and may push Dave Brew’s men all the way, although the hosts should come out on top.
Elsewhere, Foxdale could move into the top four with victory at home to Michael United, while Governor’s Athletic versus Gymns promises to be intrguing and Malew and Union Mills battle it out at Clagh Vane.
