Corinthians continued their quest to clinch a Railway Cup semi-final spot with a hard-fought victory over Rushen United on Saturday afternoon.

On a day when the wet weather decimated the fixture list, the clash was moved to the Bowl and was the only Canada Life Premier League to be played at the weekend.

The Whites raced into a two-goal lead thanks to efforts by Luke Murray and Sean Doyle, before Ste Riding pulled a goal back early in the second half for the Spaniards.

But Josh Ridings restored Corinthians’ two-goal cushion and, despite Jamie Johnston netting again for Rushen late on, the Whites held on to claim all three points.

Only two games survived the weather in JCK Division Two, both proving to be high-scoring affairs.

Onchan moved up to second in the table after seeing off the challenge of neighbours Braddan by the odd goal in seven at the Nivison Stadium, goals from Barry English, Nigel Moody, Dale Walker and Owen Stewart sealing a 4-3 victory over the Swans.

Just round the corner at Bemahague, Malew claimed their second win of the season in a thrilling 11-goal battle with Governor’s Athletic.

Chris Cowley (2), Aaron Broad, Rob Bell and Kyle Jackson all netted for the home team but braces from Dorin Tatar and Jack Gilbert plus strikes from Adam Drewett and Sean Shimmin sealed a dramatic 6-5 victory for the southerners.
