Corinthians extended their lead at the top of the Canada Life Premier League thanks to an impressive victory at Rushen United on Saturday afternoon.
The Whites claimed a 2-0 victory at Croit Lowey courtesy of goals from in-form Dan Simpson and Darren Cain to go six points clear of St George’s.
The latter’s Friends Provident FA Cup quarter-finals at the Bowl against Braddan was not played and the tie was awarded to Geordies as the Swans were unable to field a team.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Ramsey suffered yet another defeat to remain firmly rooted to the foot of the table after suffering a narrow 2-1 defeat at Laxey thanks to goals from Joe Walters and Sean Gavin for the Miners.
There were plenty of goals at Springfield Road where Douglas Athletic recorded a thrilling 4-3 victory over relegation-threatened Colby.
Goals from Daniel Sherry, Martin Cowan, Danny Pennington and Darren Shields secured Craig Purvis’s first win as manager of the Pinks, while Daniel Lane grabbed a brace and Carl Hickey scored for the Moonlighters.
The westerns derby between St John’s and Peel was postponed, although the rivals of due to go head-to-head again in the FA Cup next weekend.
In the GH Corlett Woods Cup quarter-finals, there were unfortunate scenes at the Memorial Playing Fields where Foxdale’s Tommy Corlett suffered a serious injury in the opening seconds of the match.
After a lengthy delay before he was taken to hospital, the match eventually resumed and Marown continued their find form with a 4-0 win to progress to the next round.
There were also wins for Castletown and Pulrose United in the quarter-finals as they saw off the challenges of Union Mills and Michael United 3-2 and 5-0 respectively.
In one of only two JCK Division Two games played, Onchan closed to within a single point of leaders Castletown thanks to a narrow 1-0 win at home to Ayre United, while in the other match Malew recorded a 3-0 win at Douglas and District.
