The three Canada Life Premier League games that went ahead on Saturday give us enough fodder to produce the 16th top flight Team of the Week of the season.

Corinthians ensured they remain firmly in the title hunt with a fine 0-2 win at fellow top-four side Rushen United.

The result leaves the Whites top of the standings, four points ahead of Rushen and six ahead of reigning champions St George’s who have played three games less.

Four of the Ballafletcher outfit make it into this week’s hypothetical XI after impressing at Croit Lowey.

Goalkeeper Adam Killey, centre-backs Cameron Lee and Phil Kelly, plus midfield linchpin Connor Gorman helped their side to become the first to shut-out Rushen this season while inflicting only a second home defeat on Steve Burns’s Spaniards.

Joining the Corinthians’ duo in defence are Laxey’s Andrew Burkitt and Douglas Athletic’s Daniel Pennington.

The latter helped the Pinks to edge past Colby 4-3 at Springfield Road.

His set-piece delivery was a threat all afternoon and the left-footer even managed to get on the scoresheet when his long-range free-kick deceived Colby keeper Adam Kinvig in the wind.

Isle of Man FA under-18 cap Burkitt was one of the Miners’ star turns as they edged out Ramsey 2-1 in what was only Paul Callow team’s second game of 2018.

Burkitt’s Laxey team-mate Matty Wilkinson joins him in the side for a second time this campaign and slots in alongside Gorman and Douglas Athletic winger Darren Shields in midfield.

Shields was on the scoresheet and won a penalty as the Pinks picked up a fourth home win of the season over the relegation-threatened southerners.

Up front Ramsey pair Dorin Tatar and Dominic Parish are joined in the attacking third by Colby youngster Danny Lane.

The performances of Tatar and Parish among others looked to have secured Ramsey some much-needed points for their Premier League survival fund, only to be denied by a late Sean Gavin penalty.

Lane’s Colby also narrowly missed out on some points as they went down by the odd goal in sevent at Douglas Athletic.

The teenage frontman, however, bagged a brace against the Pinks, which included a fine individual goal, to take his tally for the league season to double figures.

It was a strong week for the referees, John McCallum (Rushen v Corinthians) seeing off the challenge of Alan Cowley and Andrew Lodge to claim his fifth Referee of the Week accolade of the campaign.
