Isle of Man FA manager Nick Hurt has named his squad for this summer’s NatWest Island Games in Gotland.
Half of Hurt’s 19-man selection were involved in the silver-medal winning campaign of two years ago in Jersey.
Liam Cowin, Frank Jones, Ciaran McNulty, Daniel Bell, Sam Caine, Chris Bass Jr, Dayman Petkov, Jack McVey and Alex Harrison were all part of the squad that was beaten by Guernsey in the final.
Coming into the reckoning are St John’s trio Rhys Oates, Sam Ingham and Alex Holden the latter now based at university in Liverpool.
Corinthians duo Sean Doyle and Chris Cannell also make it into the travelling party after impressive seasons for the Canada Life Premier League runners-up.
St George’s talisman Calum Morrissey, Peel’s Matty Woods, Rushen’s Ste Ridings and St Mary’s Karl Clark all return to the squad, with DHSOB’s Sam Holliday vying with Petkov for the number one jersey.
Absent from the squad, however, are experienced duo Marc Kelly and Johnny Myers. Kelly is unable to travel to the Scandinavian island while Hurt has elected to omit the St George’s man from his plans.
More, including reaction from Hurt, in Tuesday’s Examiner.
