Sam Ingham has been named as the Canada Life Premier League Player of the Month for October.

The St John’s centre-back produced a string of strong performances for the Mullen-e-Cloie outfit as Rick Holden’s Saints enjoyed an unbeaten month.

Ingham helped his side climb up to fourth in the table courtesy of a 92 thrashing of Douglas Royal plus draws against Braddan and Laxey, with the tall defender scoring a free-kick against the latter from inside his own half. Ingham’s performances impressed Eric Clague’s player ratings panel and he was subsequently awarded 6.5 points for his efforts, enough to see him edge past Darren Hudgeon by half a mark.

The latter man was in fine form for DHSOB throughout the month as Wayne Kennedy’s men continued their surge up the table thanks to thumping victories over Royal and Colby.

The former St Mary’s striker was in ruthless form during those games as he netted hat-tricks in both to ensure his side have a good chance of qualifying for this season’s Railway Cup.

Hudgy in turn was half a point ahead of Rhys Oates who was another player to shine for St John’s during the month. The talented forward helped himself to no fewer than four goals in his side’s aforementioned victory over Douglas Royal as well as opening the scoring against Laxey inside 40 seconds to continue his excellent personal season.

As a result of his strong performances in October, Oates now lies joint first in the overall standings alongside St George’s striker Ciaran McNulty on 13 points apiece, albeit Oates having played three games more than his Geordies counterpart.

The St John’s and Old Boys domination of the monthly standings also sees players from those sides complete the top five for October. DHSOB’s combatitive midfielder Michael Hooper earned 4.5 points after excellent displays against Royal and Colby, while Richard Winn’s fine showings for the Saints earned him 3.5 points to claim fifth.

Just missing out on the top five were Adam Adebiyi (DHSOB), Ryan Burns (Corinthians) and Joe Walters (Laxey), with Adebiyi claiming the Young Player of the Month award for the first time thanks to his impressive displays down the wing for Old Boys.
