Castletown took another step toward playing Premier League football next season on Tuesday evening with a 4-0 win at Douglas and District.

The league leaders hold a five-point lead at the top of the JCK Division Two standings, but having played a couple of games more than most.

Two goals from Alex Crawley and single strikes from Mike Kenny and Joe Glover secured the points against D and D, meaning a win against either Ayre United or Marown in their final two games should seal them a top-two place come the end of the season.

Foxdale look favourites to secure the second-tier’s other promotion spot after they beat Pulrose 5-1 at Springfield Road.

Dale are now up to second and look well placed to pip Castletown to the title ahead of a run in that includes games against Douglas and District, Marown, RYCOB and Michael United.

One of the division’s two other mid-week games saw Union Mills and RYCOB share a high-scoring 5-5 draw at Garey Mooar.

On target for Mills were Luke Booth (2), Colm Garrity, Will Miller and Lee Sum.

RYCOB’s reply came in the form of goals from Marc McClurg, player-manager Harry Weatherill, Greg Radcliffe, Declan Cummins and Ashley Grose.

Malew’s penultimate game of the season ended in a 7-0 victory over Michael United. Dale Walker continued his good recent run of form with a brace in that match. Jack Gilbert was also at the double, joining Luke Callister, Tim Collister and Josh Clarke on the scoresheet.

In the Canada Life Premier League the top two both claimed big 9-0 wins.

Leaders St George’s put Douglas Athletic to the sword in a result that doesn’t bode well for those expecting a close Hospital Cup semi-final between the pair on Saturday.

Johnny Myers and Ciaran McNulty both hit hat-tricks in the rout, while also on target for Geordies were Frank Jones (2) and Chris Bass Jr.

Corinthians remain three points behind Geordies ahead of the pair’s two rearranged league games. The Whites hammered third-bottom Braddan thanks to a hat-trick from Ste Whitley and further goals from Luke Murray (2), Ryan Gartland (2), Dan Simpson and Ryan Burns.

Rushen remain level on points with Corinthians, but having played two games more. The Spaniards drew 2-2 at DHSOB on Tuesday.

Ramsey remain favourites to join already relegated Colby in Division Two next season after they lost to Peel 5-1.

The result leaves the northerners five points behind Braddan and safety with four games left to play against DHSOB, Peel, Rushen United and St John’s.

The evening’s other match saw St John’s score a 6-2 win over Laxey at Mullen-e-Cloie.
