Tuesday evening’s two Hospital Cup semi-finals went as predicted with top-flight sides St George’s and St Mary’s securing wins over second-tier outfits Ramsey and Foxdale respectively.

The Premier League pair will now contest Friday evening’s final of the Keystone Law-sponsored competition at the Bowl after both triumphed 6-0.

Geordies overcame a stubborn Ramsey at Glencrutchery Road thanks to goals from Joe Quayle, Jonny Quirk, Ciaran McNulty, Johnny Myers, Furo Davies and an own goal.

Ramsey, who had Dom Parish sent off in the first half, now turn their attentions back to Saturday’s league game against Foxdale which could secure the northerners promotion and the Division Two title.

At Billy Goat Park, league champions St Mary’s remain on course for the double.

Alex Harrison’s side got off to a flyer, netting twice in the first four minutes through Craig Murphy and Darren Hudgeon.

Jordan Crawley added a third into the lead up the break, before Jamie Skillen, Hudgeon and Daniel Swan wrapped up the win in the second half.

Reports on both games in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
