The race for a place in the top four takes centre stage in JCK Division Two this weekend in what is a slightly reduced fixture list.
With the rescheduled GH Corlett Woods Cup clash between Gymns v Braddan taking place at 2pm in Tromode on Saturday, there are only four second division games kicking off at 2.30pm.
The pick of these is at Billy Goat Park where Foxdale will host Union Mills in a potentially pivotal tie. Fourth-placed Millers currently sit six points better off than their opponents but Foxdale have three games in hand and so are in a somewhat false position in sixth.
The two have yet to face each other this season and, while the form book suggests that the home side will go into this as slight favourites, it could go either way.
With leaders Colby not in action this weekend, Ayre United could return to the summit should they get the better of Douglas and District by at least three clear goals at Noble’s Park.
The Tangerines are only three points behind Colby with three games in hand and, while D&D have more than enough ability to cause some problems, the northerners should triumph.
Should Ayre slip up, third-placed St John’s will be waiting in the wings to pounce as they travel to lowly Malew at Clagh Vane. It’s been a transitional season for the hosts so the Saints will be firm favourites.
Also odds-on to claim three points are Michael United who will be aiming for their fourth win of the season when they visit Governor’s Athletic.
