Reigning Canada Life Premier League champions St George’s sent a signal of intent on Saturday as they hammered Douglas Athletic 14-0.
Three of the Pinks main tormentors make it into the latest Isle of Man Newspapers Team of the Week, two for the second successive time.
Furo Davies and Ciaran McNulty both plundered four goals as Athletic were put to the sword, the latter taking his tally of Premier League goals to 296.
It is, however, the in-form Davies that is named Player of the Day for the second successive week after he took his early-season haul to nine goals in only three matches.
Team-mate Joey Morling makes his seasonal bow for the TotW after he capped a good all-round performance with a brace against Athletic.
Completing the hypothetical XI’s front-three, alongside McNulty and Davies, is Peel summer signing Shaun Kelly.
The ex-Laxey and Ayre man struck the winner as the westerners overcame St Mary’s 2-1 at the Bowl.
In midfield, Morling slots in alongside Corinthians’ Danny Gerrard and Braddan’s Chris Walsh.
Gerrard capped an industrious performance in the middle of the park for the Ballafletcher side with the winning goal against Laxey to maintain his side’s 100 per cent start to the campaign.
Walsh was also on the scoresheet for his new side as they picked up a very useful three points at Ramsey.
Last season’s Division Two champions now have two wins from three games and are on their way to the 12-14 points usually needed to stave off the threat of relegation.
At the back, Laxey’s Andy Ball edges out St Mary’s Kiril Velev for the coveted number one jersey.
The former Ayre and Youthie keeper looked to have earned his side a hard-fought point against Corinthians with several good stops until Gerrard’s deflected strike found its way past him.
Former Laxey defender Tom Smith makes the line-up for the second successive week after the Corinthians’ centre-back helped his side to a clean sheet for a second time in three games.
Joining Smith in the side’s rearguard are Douglas Royal’s Kyle Jones, Peel full-back John Kelly and Braddan skipper Joey Andrews.
Jones was Man of the Match as Royal drew 1-1 with Colby to pick up their first point of the campaign.
Kelly impressed as Peel came away from the Bowl with three points, while Andrews was one of the Swans best peformers as Ramsey were beaten 4-2 at Ballacloan.
Andy Lodge shone with the whistle during St Mary’s match with Peel to claim the Referee of the Week honours for the second time this season.
