Gill Christian has been named as the new chairperson of FC Isle of Man following the departute of Gary Weightman.
In a statement released on Thurday, the club commented: ’This is a great addition to the Ravens’ organisation as Gill brings a wealth of important experience from both the business and sporting worlds, which will be vital as the club continues to grow.’
Former island captain Christian spoke of her delight at her new role: ’ I am genuinely thrilled and honoured to have been asked to take on this role.
’I love my football and have always taken a close interest in the local game and FC Isle of Man intrigued me from the beginning, so it didn’t take long for me to accept the opportunity to join an already excellent team of people.
’I’ve got big shoes to fill, however, as Gary did such a fantastic job as the previous Chair and it is amazing what the club have achieved in such a short period of time. I am genuinely excited about everything to come and I am really looking forward to getting started and helping FCIoM become a hugely successful community club, both on and off the pitch.
FCIoM sporting director, Paul Jones said: ’Everyone is extremely pleased to welcome Gill to the club. As we embark on the next phrase of the project, we are fortunate to have someone as experienced as Gill for the role of chair. She is an outstanding person and fantastic role model within our community.’
