The battle for supremacy in JCK Division Two could take another twist this weekend with a couple of title challengers going head-to-head.
The game in question sees the two sides currently second and third in the table face off at Billy Goat Park where Foxdale host RYCOB.
Tipped by many to win the second division title, Youthie flew out of the traps this season and quickly settled at the top of the standings.
That was until they suffered a bit of a wobble in recent weeks, losing to Union Mills a month ago before suffering back-to-back defeats to Marown and Castletown in the past two weeks to allow Pulrose to move two points clear at the top.
They lie level on points with third-placed Foxdale but the latter have two games in hand and go into the contest on the back of a comprehensive 5-1 victory away at Michael United last Saturday so this weekend’s clash could well go either way.
Away from that heavyweight clash, Pully will be favourites to maintain their position at the top as they host Michael, although they will need to be wary of complacency against the westerners as the Balleira side have improved of late.
Last week’s giant killers Douglas and District - who beat in-form Marown 2-0 - will be hoping to cause another upset when they head due south to take on a resurgent Castletown at The Stadium.
Four successive wins have propelled the Mets back up the table and into the top four where they are well positioned to challenge for honours, but D&D will be brimming with confidence after last Saturday’s win and could well strike again.
Gymns recorded their first win of the season last weekend in some style when they thumped Governor’s Athletic 7-2 but they will be hard-pushed to make it back-to-back victories when they travel to Marown who will still be smarting from that shock defeat to D&D.
An intriguing game could be in store in the north of the island when Ayre United host Onchan in Andreas. The Os will go into the match as favourites but need to return to winning ways after narrowly losing to leaders Pulrose last time out.
The slightly later kickoff at 2.30pm sees Governor’s Athletic take on a Union Mills side whose five-match unbeaten run was ended by Malew last weekend and who can ill afford another slip-up.
