Rushen United closed the gap slightly on Canada Life Premier League leaders Corinthians on Saturday afternoon.

With the Whites not in action, the Spaniards moved to within 12 points of the pacesetters - with two games in hand - after claiming a hard-fought 2-2 draw at home to Laxey.

St Mary’s and St George’s claimed victories, winning 6-2 and 5-0 against Douglas Royal and Douglas Athletic respectively.

Marown and Ramsey edged one point closer to Premier League safety as they played out a 3-3 draw at the Memorial Playing Fields, with the hosts being reduced to 10 men late on.

St John’s remained rooted to the foot of the table after they went down 2-1 at Ayre United, while the other top flight game saw Peel defeat DHSOB 6-3.

In JCK Division Two, Union Mills moved another step closer to the title with a convincing 6-0 win away at Castletown, but that score was eclipsed by several teams on a high-scoring afternoon.

Foxdale won 11-1 at home to bottom-of-the-table Pulrose United, while Colby also won by a 10-goal margin in their 10-0 thrashing of Michael United and Onchan triumphed 8-1 at home to Governor’s Athletic.

Gymns were 3-1 winners against Braddan at Victoria Road, while Malew saw off the challenge of Douglas and District 5-1 at Clagh Vane.
