The quarter-finals of the GH Corlett Woods Cup take centre stage for several JCK Division Two teams this weekend.

With Douglas and District having already secured their place in the semi-finals courtesy of a thrilling 5-4 victory over Ayre United a few weeks ago, it remains to be seen which teams will join them in the last four of this season’s competition.

The pick of this Saturday’s ties is arguably at Billy Goat Park where Foxdale host Marown in a battle of two of the form sides in Manx football at the moment.

The visitors are up to second in JCK Division Two having won their last four games in a row, while Foxdale can mathematically go top if they win their three games in hand thanks to four wins in their last five games.

This promises to be a close contest and, if September’s 1-1 draw in the league is anything to go by, extra-time and penalties may well be needed to decide a winner at Billy Goat Park.

An intriguing game is also on the cards at Garey Mooar where Union Mills take on second division leaders Castletown.

The Woods Cup represents the Millers’ last remaining realistic chance of silverware this season and therefore they will be desperate to progress, but will start the day as underdogs against a Castletown side that boasts the best form in the island at present.

Town will be confident of getting past the Millers this weekend, especially having already recorded a league double over them this season courtesy of 4-3 and 7-2 victories, the latter of which kickstarted Alex Crawley’s remarkable run of hat-tricks in recent months.

The third and final quarter-final contest on Saturday sees promotion hopefuls - and arguably cup favourites - Pulrose United head northwest to take on Michael United at Balleira Road.

Pully will start as overwhelming favourites to comfortably progress to the last four but the hosts will hope that conditions could be a bit of a leveller in the west as they aim to spring a shock.

Having said that, Pully romped to an 8-0 win last time the sides met and a similar scoreline could be on the cards again this weekend if their formidable frontline find its shooting boots.
