St John’s have appealed against the point deduction which could see them relegated to Division Two.

The Johnners were handed a one-point deduction by the Isle of Man FA’s league management committee after fielding an ineligible player in their last league game of the Premier League season against Douglas Royal.

That match at Ballafletcher ended 2-2, a result that relegated Royal on goal difference.

The point the Saints gained in that match has now been taken off them, meaning they finish a point below Douglas Royal in the final standings and now face the prospect of second-tier football next term for the first time since 2011.

The Johnners had 14 days to appeal the decision and, on late on Thursday, the IoMFA confirmed that the club has decided to contest the deduction.

This means it will now go to the FA’s disciplinary committee who will decide whether or not to uphold the league management committee’s original decision.
