The Girls Western Primary School Football tournament took place in St John’s on Wednesday.
Five teams from Bunscoill, St John’s Snakes, St John’s Sharks, St John’s Swans and Marown participated in the competition which took place at St John’s Primary School.
The aim was to introduce and provide a pathway for girls to the beautiful game and also gain interest for a forthcoming Primary Schools’ Tournament to be held later in the year.
Under the tutelage of coach Ben Qualtrough and Isle of Man Football Association women’s development officer Amy Beggs-Cairney, with the former organising some coaching drills for the youngsters before the teams played each other once.
In accordance with Junior Football League rules, no scores were kept as the emphasis was more about enjoyment and participation.
Amy thanked the coaches, referees, teachers and players for making the afternoon a success.
