In a quirk of the fixture list, these two sides only met a couple of weeks ago when Colby defied their underdogs tag to claim an impressive 2-0 victory thanks to an Andrew Baker strike plus an own goal.
Since then though, Malew returned to winning ways with a 4-2 success away at Michael United while Colby went down fighting 3-6 to Ramsey after being reduced to 10 men.
Cal Alexander’s Malew outfit will start as favourites this weekend but will know they can ill afford any complacency, or the Moonlighters could well complete a quickfire double over them.
Another repeat fixture from November 10 sees Ramsey take on Gymns in the north of the island at Ballacloan Stadium.
When the teams met less than two weeks ago, in-form Gymns were able to hold the northerners to an impressive 3-3 draw which maintained the Tromode side’s four-match unbeaten run.
However, that run came to an end when they lost to Ayre United last time out so Tony Sewell’s men will be eager to bounce back straightaway, although that will be a tough ask against a Ramsey side chasing promotion.
That win for Ayre sealed back-to-back wins for the Tangerines for the first team this season in what has been a stop/start campaign.
The northerners face an uphill struggle to make it three on the bounce this weekend though, as they take on an in-form Foxdale who routed Governor’s Athletic 14-0 last time out.
The Billy Goat Park side are locked on 25 points with second-placed Pulrose United who this weekend welcome Michael United to Springfield Road.
Player/manager Steven Priestnal was in superb form for the Reds last Saturday as his hat-trick helped Pully get the better of Onchan and his goals will be crucial in their push for promotion and the title.
It could be another long day at the office for Governor’s who welcome leaders RYCOB to Bemahague in what should prove to be a straightforward win for the northerners.
The final game sees Douglas and District make the relatively short journey to Garey Mooar to face a Union Mills side that held top-of-the-table Youthie to a 2-2 draw last time out. D&D enjoyed a fine start to the campaign but have now lost their last three so will be eager to get back to winning ways.
