The Isle of Man men’s representative team lost their Ynys Mon Inter-Island Games football tournament semi-final 3-2 against Guernsey on Thursday afternoon at Gwalchmai FC.
The Channel Islanders took a two-goal half-time lead after Will Fazakerley opened their scoring on 14 minutes, before Matt Loaring netted their second just before the interval.
The Manx started their comeback on 47 minutes when half-time substitute Rhys Oates reduced the arrears, before Dan Simpson grabbed an equaliser on 70 minutes.
However, Loaring scored a breakaway goal on 85 minutes for what proved to be the winner.
The Isle of Man men will be looking to finish amongst the medals in the bronze medal pay-off at Gwalchmai FC when they will play Shetland Islands today (Friday) at 2pm.
The Isle of Man women’s team will go for gold later today when they play in their third inter-island games final at Holyhead Hotspur FC.
Their two previous meetings (2011 and 2017) both resulted in silver medals and therefore they will will be looking to go one step further when playing hosts Ynys Mon in the final at 3.30pm.
