There is a reduced progamme of only four fixtures taking place in the Canada Life Premier League this Saturday.

However, one of those four games is a crucial contest in the battle for survival as two of the bottom three sides go head-t0-head at Garey Mooar.

Union Mills welcome Colby to their Strang ground knowing that they desperately need a victory if they are to stand any chance of avoiding relegation to JCK Division Two.

The Millers currently lie seven points behind their opponents and the fixtures are running out fast for Neil Akkulugadu’s men if they are to beat the drop.

The sides originally met on the opening day of the season but that game has gone down in infamy as, although the Millers won 1-0, they were deemed to have fielded an ineligible player.

Therefore they were hit with a three-point deduction and also lost the three points for that victory. There was more drama to come though as Mills successfully appealed that punishment and the Isle of Man Football Association ordered that game to be replayed.

This all gives this weekend’s game even more edge to what was already likely to be a very tense fixture.

The sides also met in the FA Cup last month with Colby winning 4-2, therefore the Moonlighters will be favourites to claim victory.

Elsewhere, Ramsey are also not mathematically safe but they will be hard-pushed to get anything against a St Mary’s team smarting from their heavy defeat to champions St George’s last time out.

Should St Mary’s drop points, then Corinthians could leapfrog them into second in the standings if they get the better of DHSOB at Blackberry Lane. The hosts, though, will have been boosted by their impressive 4-0 win against St John’s.

The final Canada Life Premier League game this weekend sees Douglas Athletic face a tough test against heavweights Peel at the westerners’ temporary Station Fields home.
