FC Isle of Man has revealed the crest that it will hopefully carry on its kits during its maiden season in English football’s non-league system.

The club is waiting to hear if its application to join the North West Counties League next season has been rubber stamped and last week appointed its first manager in the shape of St George’s boss Chris Bass Sr.

Designed by Oldham-based Eden Creative, the new crest features one of the island’s national birds, a raven, which is synonymous to Celts and Vikings with battle, intelligence and problem solving.

The red and white colours represent the Isle of Man’s stunning sunsets, while the four water lines symbolise the north, south, east and west of the island.

The Manx Gaelic wording ’Bee ny Share’ means ’Be Better.’

FC IoM’s sporting director Paul Jones said: ’The design values within the crest are set to inspire our home and away kits of which we’ll be providing more details in the coming weeks.’

The crest is also in line with that of its parent company, Sporting Club Isle of Man, which launched this week with the aim of taking more Manx team sports into off-island competition. Full story in the Manx Independent.
