Dominic McGreevy has been crowned as the Canada Life Player of the Month for April following his impressive performances for Peel.

The western centre-back has been in inspired form for the Sunset City side and has helped his team continue their unbeaten run right through to the end of their Premier League campaign.

Peel began the month with a thumping 9-0 win over Union Mills, a result which confirmed the Millers’ relegation to Division Two.

McGreevy then played a key role in Peel claiming a hard-fought point in a 2-2 draw away at DHSOB at Blackberry Lane. As such, the towering centre-back impressed Eric Clague’s rating panel and earned a total of five points from his two leagues.

That was enough to edge out Old Boys’ attacker Craig Murphy who garnered 4.5 points throughout April.

Murphy enjoyed his most fruitful campaign to date for the Blackberry Lane side and ended the 2016-17 campaign with an excellent return of 23 goals, the fifth highest in the Premier League.

He was one of his side’s standout performers at the beginning of the month as DHSOB went down fighting to league champions and Grand Slam chasers St George’s, before also impressing during the aforementioned 2-2 draw with Peel.

Yet another player to shine in that four-goal thriller at Blackberry Lane was Peel stalwart Daniel Lace who continues to show no signs of slowing down despite surpassing a landmark 600 matches for the westerners’ first team.

As well as catching the eye against DHSOB, Lace also grabbed a rare goal during the westerners’ aformentioned rout against Union Mills.

In turn, the veteran full-back was one point ahead of a quartet of players, namely Sean Doyle, Steven Priestnal, Ashley Webster and Nathan Yates.

Corinthians striker Doyle has been in superb form this season and was recently named as the Canada Life Player of the Month for March, as well as being called up to the Isle of Man FA representative squad for this year’s NatWest Island Games in Gotland.

Priestnal had enjoyed another prolific campaign for St Mary’s and ends the season as the joint second highest scorer with Doyle having netting 29 goals in the league.

However, neither Doyle or Priestnal were able to overhaul Webster as the Golden Boot winner, with the Peel forward helping himself to a whopping 36 goals in the league, that despite playing fewer games. Having left the island last month to move to Australia, Webster went out in style by scoring four goals in that 9-0 demolition of Union Mills.

Rounding off that quartet is Yates who has been a shining light for the Millers despite their relegation to Division Two and, as such, his performances of late have seen him be rewarded with the Canada Life Young Player of the Month accolade.
