The quartet who will contest the Railway Cup semi-finals on December 5 was all but rubber stamped on Saturday after the latest set of fixtures in the Canada Life Premier League.

Leaders Corinthians and Rushen United had already mathematically secured their place in the top four at the season’s halfway stage prior to the weekend’s top-flight matches.

They will be joined by St Mary’s, and barring a major goal difference swing, St George’s in the hat for the semi-final draw when it takes place next month.

The former booked their place in the festive competition with a 5-2 win at Douglas Royal.

An early Tom Weir header had put the Saints ahead only for Jamie Agnew and Kyle Watson to give Michael Fitzmaurice’s youngsters the advantage at the half-time break.

Jack McVey levelled things for Peter Langridge’s Bowl outfit, before Weir’s second towering header of the afternoon but his side in front.

A further brace from Matty Kent-Lloyd put further gloss on the scoreline and ensured the Saints a shot at the first major silverware of the campaign.

Geordies should land the Cup’s other spot after they battled past bottom side St John’s 3-2 at Glencrutchery Road.

Ayre United can draw level on points with Johnny Myers’s side if the Tangerines beat Corinthians and Ramsey in their final first-half-of-the-season games and Geordies lose to Ramsey. However, the Saints have a much superior goal difference meaning some big scores would have to be recorded to deny them another crack at the Cup.

The Tangerines kept their feint hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Peel thanks to goals from Declan Cummins and Danny Oram.

Elsewhere, Corinthians netted double figures in a 10-2 win at Douglas Athletic, while Laxey bounced back from last week’s defeat at DHSOB with a solid 3-0 win at Ramsey.

Despite the day’s earlier wet weather there was a full set of fixtures in JCK Division Two.

Colby marked their centenary with a 3-3 draw at Onchan, while leaders Union Mills maintained their five-point lead at the top with a 7-3 win over Braddan.

RYCOB remain second after a 15-0 win over bottom side Pulrose United, the northerners are just ahead of Malew whose good recent form continued with a 7-3 victory at Gymns.

Elsewhere Foxdale got the better of Governor’s Athletic 3-1 at the Station Fields, while Michael United picked up their third win of the season with a 5-2 triumph over out-of-sorts Douglas and District.
