Good Friday will be a particularly good one for either Pulrose United or Ramsey as they meet in the GH Corlett Woods Cup final at the Bowl.

This should be a cracking culmination to the Division Two competition, the pair having drawn their two previous meetings this season 2-2 and 3-3.

Both sides are firmly in the mix for promotion and indeed a place in the end-of-season Paul Henry Gold Cup, meaning they could yet finish the campaign with a second-tier treble.

Woods Cup holders Pully currently sit second in the standings, four points better off than their opponents on Friday afternoon, but having played a game more.

The pair’s recent form is also near identical, with both winning four of their last six league games.

Player-manager Steven Priestnal’s arrival from St Mary’s in the summer marked out the Springfield Road side as promotion contenders from the offset.

Priestnal and brother Marc have helped propel their side to the top of the second-tier’s scoring charts, plundering 92 goals in 21 games.

Pully’s defence led by goalkeeper Rob Slinger is also meanest in the division, conceeding on average only a goal a game.

Ramsey too boast a stingy backline, keeper Andy Perry’s return to the club helping his side keep 10 clean sheets this term.

Perry has been sidelined by injury in recent weeks, but returned to the side for Saturday’s Hospital Cup victory over Onchan.

Dylan Pickles is the northerners’ top scorer and will be Anthony Cooper’s side’s dangerman as they aim to claim their first silverware since FA Cup victory in 2004.

This one really could go either way and may require extra-time and penalties to determine a winner.
