Douglas Royal can seal promotion back to the promised land of the Canada Life Premier League with victory this weekend.

Having been relegated from the first division at the end of the 2010-11 season, it has been a considerable wait for the Ballafletcher side to return to Manx football’s top table.

However, Aaron Quinn’s Whites have been in irrepressible form this season and currently lead JCK Division Two by a whopping 10 points with only a handful of games remaining.

Although it is already all but a certainty, victory against Douglas and District on Saturday would guarantee promotion, ironically on their old stomping ground at Noble’s Park.

The only sides that can mathematically prevent Royal from gaining promotion go head-to-head at Billy Goat Park where Foxdale host Braddan.

Prior to the start of the season, these two sides were tipped by many to be challenges for the title.

However, despite a fine start to the campaign, a mid-season slump of sorts has potentially cost Foxdale dearly, whil e a series of postponements over the winter has threatened to derail Braddan’s momentum.

The sides played out a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture earlier in the season but in the recent GH Corlett Woods Cup showdown the Swans romped to a 4-0 victory so will fancy their chances of winning again this weekend.

There’s an interesting battle on the cards at the Nivison Stadium where Onchan host fellow top four hopefuls Marown.

Both sides remain in with a chance of booking their place in the end-of-season Gold Cup competition but neither can ill afford to slip up this weekend so a close contest could be in store.

Castletown still remain in the second of the division’s two promotion spots but only have three games left and are therefore relying on other teams below them to drop points. The Mets will, however, be favourites to get the better of a Jekyll and Hyde Gymns team, although former Town youngster Jordan Cooper is in fine form for the Tromode outfit.

The final games see RYCOB entertain Governor’s Athletic while Michael United travel to Malew.
