The final set of Canada Life Premier League fixtures before the Christmas break could shake things up at the top of the standings.

Saturday’s stand-out game takes place at Croit Lowey where Rushen United play host to St Mary’s in a third versus second clash.

The Spaniards were only a whisker away from beating league leaders Peel for a second time this season last week, only for Kerron Christian’s header to rescue a point for the westerners in the 3-3 draw. Liam Cowin’s side will be disappointed to have let a two-goal lead slip, but will take heart from the performance nonetheless.

Dan Hattersley’s sparkling form since making the move to Croit Lowey acouple of months ago continued with a hat-trick in that game and he’ll be relishing the opportunity to go up against the league’s joint-meanest defence.

The former Conference striker has been carrying a knock over the last couple of weeks, but should be fit to lead the Rushen line.

St Mary’s, who won the reverse fixture 3-2, edged past Corinthians by the same scoreline last weekend thanks to a Darren Hudgeon treble, a result that keeps them hot on the heels of Peel with a game in hand.

This one will be close and the pair may have to settle for a share of the points even with Jack McVey returning for the Saints.

After their aforementioned defeat last week, Corinthians will be hoping to bounce back against Douglas Athletic at Ballafletcher,

The latter ground out a win against Laxey last time out, but will do well to repeat the feat against the Whites.

Peel could put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack if they beat Marown and other results go their way.

St George’s will also be favourites to collect three points when they travel to Ballafletcher and Douglas Royal.

Michael Fitzmaurice’s young side boosted their survival hopes with a big win over DHSOB last week, but will struggle to pick up back-to-back wins with Geordies warming up for Boxing Day’s Railway Cup final.

Bottom side Laxey have improved in recent weeks and will be hopeful that DHSOB cough up some points for their survival fund.
