There’s a host of intriguing games in the Canada Life Premier League this Saturday afternoon.

All five games look finely poised and could have a bearing on things at the head and foot of the standings.

At the top of the table, league leaders St Mary’s make the trip down the A1 to take on Peel at Douglas Road.

The Saints currently lead the way by eight points, but having played a couple of games more than the chasing pack.

Peel, who have been shorn of Rhys Oates, Lee Gale and Daniel Bell in recent weeks because of injury, will provide a tough nut to crack at home. Steve Falconer’s side have only lost once in the Sunset City this term and may yet snare a point off the reigning champions.

Two of the division’s other title chasers go head-to-head at Croit Lowey as Rushen United host St George’s.

The Spaniards boast the league’s best home record, only dropping two points in their seven games in Port Erin thus far.

Geordies won the reverse fixture 3-1 back in October, but may have to settle for a point in this one.

At the foot of the table, Pulrose United could finally move out of the league’s relegation spot with three points from a trip to Marown.

The Crosby side are three places better off than their opponents in the standings, but have struggled to find the back of the net at home this season.

Marown have only scored three goals in five games at the Memorial Playing Fields and may cough up a point to keep United within striking distance of the teams above them.

Douglas Royal are only two points better off than Pully, but could boost their own survival hopes if they take points off their visitors to Ballafletcher on Saturday, Douglas Athletic.

The latter side have had an up-and-down season pairing a famous win over St George’s with defeat at Marown only a couple of weeks ago.

Royal edged the reverse encounter 3-2 and another tight game should be in store this weekend.

Ramsey, who also remain in Pulrose’s sights, host DHSOB at Ballacloan in the top-flight’s other game. The northerners triumphed when these pair met in the FA Cup a couple of weeks ago.
