The Canada Life Premier League is back with a bang this weekend.

Cup fixtures, wet weather and call-ups to FA representative sides means there hasn’t been a full top-flight fixture card since mid-December.

This week’s six games are headlined by a clash between old rivals St George’s and Peel at Glencrutchery Road.

The pair are among the Premier League’s main title protagonists with only three points separating them in the westerners’ favour, Geordies having played two games less.

St George’s won the reverse fixture at Douglas Road 2-5 in November, but Peel are unbeaten since that defeat.

This one should be a cracker with both sides well matched across the pitch.

St John’s kick off the weekend’s action with their latest Friday night game under the floodlights of Mullen-e-Cloie.

Colby are the visitors to the west as they look for some points to add to their top-flight survival fund.

The southerners currently hover a point above the division’s relegation zone, but have played five games more than the current bottom two of Braddan and Ramsey.

The Johnners won the reverse fixture 9-0, so expect a big home win in this one.

Braddan’s hopes of adding to their points tally look slim on Saturday as they travel to Rushen United.

Rushen, who will be under the stewardship of Steve Burns for the next couple of months with Paul Jones unavailable, will be eager to bounce back after defeat against St Mary’s last time out.

Ramsey too face a tough game as they travel to Douglas Athletic in what the northerners will hope will be their first game in over a month.

The Pinks won 7-0 when these pair met in November so should be firm favourites to make it a third win on the bounce.

Fellow strugglers Douglas Royal travel to the Bowl and in-form St Mary’s.Player-manager Alex Harrison has admitted his mid-table side will be concentrating on the cups, but should prove too strong for Chris Feeney’s young Royal team.

Douglas High School Old Boys, who shared the spoils with St Mary’s in a thrilling 4-4 draw at the weekend, host current table-toppers Corinthians.

The Whites returned to action with a 4-1 FA Cup win over Laxey at the weekend and will be eager to build up some momentum against an Old Boys side that has struggled for game time in recent weeks.

This should be another close game, Old Boys having inflicted a rare defeat on their opponents in the reverse fixture at Ballafletcher.
