Competition favourites St Mary’s have been handed another potentially tough draw in the first round of the Ascot Hotel Junior Cup.
The Saints were drawn against Combination One title rivals Peel in the preliminary round and, after edging past the westerners in extra-time on Sunday, the Bowl outfit will travel to Rushen United this weekend.
The visitors will start the match as favourites but one of their only two defeats this season was inflicted by the Spaniards back in December when an Andrew Moody hat-trick sealed a 4-2 win for the southerners, therefore they will have to be on top of their game if they’re to progress.
Free-scoring Corinthians make the extremely short trip across Ballafletcher to take on near-neighbours Douglas Royal and the ’visitors’ will be expected to come out on top.
Just around the corner, Union Mills welcome fellow Combination Two side Foxdale to Garey Mooar and, having won 4-1 when the sides last met just a few weeks ago, the Millers will start as favourites.
Laxey were one of the biggest winners in the prelim round thanks to an 8-0 demolition of Colby and they will be expected to get the better of Ayre United, as will St George’s who make the trip to St John’s.
An intriguing game could be in store in Crosby where Marown host newly-crowned Combi Two champions Onchan. Braddan make the short trip to Noble’s Park to take on Douglas and District, while Douglas Athletic take on DHSOB at Blackberry Lane.
