There’s a familiar feel to the latest Team of the Week, with the selection having clocked up 36 TotW appearances between them already this season.
Leading the way are Corinthians’s Ste Whitley and Peel’s Dan Simpson who both make their sixth outings of the term after impressing in Saturday’s five Canada Life Premier League fixtures.
Whitley netted a hat-trick as the Whites moved up to second in the top-flight standings with a 7-1 win over Marown at Ballafletcher.
The fleet-footed Simpson was also on the scoresheet at the weekend, netting a brace as the westerners shared a thrilling 4-4 draw with Laxey at Glen Road.
Joining them in the attacking third is St George’s Calum Morrissey, who makes his third outing of the campaign following a mid-season switch from Michael United.
Morrissey came off the bench to nab a goal as Geordies produced a strong second-half showing to beat Douglas Royal 6-0.
The hypothetical XI’s four-man midfield also features two of this season’s stand-out performers.
Laxey’s Max Murley earns his fifth stripes of the campaign after he helped his team battle back to get a point against the westerners.
Greg Norris’s performances since moving to the island and signing for Rushen have also caught the eye, the midfielder adding to his collection with another fine showing in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with St Mary’s.
In testing, blustery conditions at the Bowl, Norris rarely wasted a pass and provided a more than useful screen in front of the Rushen back four to secure a fourth TotW outing of the season.
Two of this week’s three debutants slot into the other midfield spots.
Connor Gorman was among the scorers as Corinthians wracked up their fifth victory in a row.
St George’s Jay Skelcher-Maxwell is the other 2019-20 first-timer in the middle of the park after he shone against Royal.
The third debutant is Pulrose United defender Owen Quayle.
He helped his side to only a second point of the term as the Reds drew 1-1 with Ramsey at Springfield Road. The result means bottom side Pully are now only two points behind Royal in the standings.
Also impressing in that match was Ramsey’s Dominic Parish, the defender making the TotW for a third time this term.
Completing this week’s outfield selection is Rushen centre-back Alex Maitland, the in-form centre-back making the selection for a fifth time this season.
Claiming the TotW’s coveted number one jersey is Laxey’s Rob Slinger. The former Pully and Onchan goalkeeper made some cracking saves to keep Laxey in the game and earn them a point against Peel at the weekend.
Referee of the Week honours is shared between Darren Flanagan and Neshko Marinov who both impressed with the whistle at the weekend.
