Corinthians and Castletown MFC won the Isle of Man FA’s Summer League Trophy and Plate titles after defeating Douglas Royal 2-0 and Peel 4-2 respectively in their finals.
Played in pouring rain, a Ballafletcher derby took place at the Bowl in the final of the Summer League Trophy.
Lisa Costain gave Corinthians a first-half lead, Alice Ashe adding the second after beating the offside trap with a speculative strike. Royal’s goalkeeper Rose Ozga had to be on top form, pulling off impressive saves to deny Ashe and captain Casey Halsall.
In the Plate final, Castletown, who last entered a women’s team in the 2012-13 season, defeated 2015 Summer League Trophy winners and 2016 finalists Peel at the NSC Astroturf.
The westerners went two goals up thanks to strikes from Sienna Dunn and Becky Corkish, but Town hit back thanks to strikes from Sarah Taylor (2), Olivia Toombs and Sara Ismail-Sutton.
IoMFA’s Treasurer Stephen Carter presented the silverware and medals to the winning teams.
