Fresh from competing in the inaugural FP Grand Prix at Jurby Motodrome last weekend, Peter Kennaugh and Ben Swift head to Norway this weekend for the 2017 UCI World Road Race Championships.
There they will meet up with Manx rider Mark Christian and Castletown resident Ian Stannard to tackle the elite men’s road race as they battle it out for the prestigious rainbow jersey.
The race will start in Ã?ygarden and Fjell early on Sunday and tackles 267.5 kilometres, comprising a 39.5km open route followed by one 17.9km lap and 11 laps of a 19.1 km cirtuit through the streets of Bergen to the finishline.
BBC and Eurosport will both be broadcasting live coverage of the race, on the BBC via the red button between 9.05am-4.30pm and on BBC2 from 1-4.30pm.
Eurosport’s live coverage will be on aired Eurosport 2 and on its dedicated Eurosport Player from 9am-4.15pm.
l Manx Road Club’s AGM will take place at Creg-Ny-Baa Hotel next Thursday, September 28, from 7.30pm.
The meeting will double up as a social, with refreshments served for all members in attendance.
l Manx Viking Wheelers’ AGM will be in the upstairs room of the Isle of Man Sports Institute building, NSC, from 7pm on Wednesday, October 25.
Andy Brooks is stepping down as chairman after three years but the rest of the committee is prepared to stand again.
Members are invited to come along to express their interests and the AGM will be followed by the 2018 MVW kit launch.
